✅ Swing Trading (End-of-day or longer trades)
- Download Speed: 10 Mbps or higher
- Upload Speed: 1–2 Mbps
- Latency (Ping): < 50 ms
Why: Swing trading doesn’t require second-by-second execution, so a stable connection with decent speed is fine. Most home broadband packages easily cover this.
✅ Day Trading (Short-term trades, scalping, etc.)
- Download Speed: 20–50 Mbps minimum
- Upload Speed: 5–10 Mbps minimum
- Latency (Ping): < 20 ms ideal
- Jitter (Connection Stability): As low as possible (< 10 ms)
Why: Day trading demands speed and stability. Even a slight delay can cost you execution quality and profit. The lower the latency and higher the stability, the better.
☁️ Other Key Considerations:
- Connection Type:
- Fiber (FTTP) is best – faster and more stable
- 4G/5G Mobile Hotspot: Only as a backup
- Avoid Satellite Internet – too much latency
- Wired Connection (Ethernet) > Wi-Fi
- Wi-Fi is okay for swing trading
- Use Ethernet for day trading to eliminate packet loss and interference
- Backup Internet:
- Keep a mobile hotspot or second line ready for emergencies
